Description Cardboard ring which contained an objective lens (now missing). The maximum diameter of the ring is 70 mm, the aperture 50 mm. It bears an inscription ("Vang. Torr. 1644 3 ½") indicating the author (Evangelista Torricelli), the year of construction and suggesting that this ring was to be used in conjunction with an objective of focal length 3 ½ braccia (corresponding to 1900 mm). |
